Grand Budapest Hotel

Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel” from 2014 is a cinematic masterpiece and is definitely worth watching – but be aware, because it is kind of weird.

If you have ever seen a Wes Anderson movie, you will know that they are, let’s just say special, and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” is no exception. Crazy characters, colorful sceneries and old-school techniques are just some of the the characteristics used by Wes Anderson, to make his movies stand out from the mainstream blockbusters, who tend to think that 3D, CGI and special effects are enough to make a movie great.

The film stars Ralph Fiennes as the extravagant cougar-hunting concierge Gustave H, who runs the exclusive Grand Budapest Hotel during the interwar period before World War II. He is accompanied by the new lobby boy Zero, and the two of them embark on a journey through Europe on the quest of recovering a priceless Renaissance painting, which Gustave inherits from his recently late lover.

Besides being extremely critically acclaimed, “The Grand Budapest Hotel” is packed with A-list actors such as Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Jude Law, Tilda Swinton and many others.
